When we woke up the next morning we explored the room a little and found this cute little balcony!
This was the view if you looked left.
and this was the view looking down! So pretty!
We then left the hotel and started to explore!
All of the streets we went down were big enough for one car.
After a little walking we turned the corner and found this bridge!
So cool!
Along all of the sidewalks there were roses! Nathan's nose didn't like it so much but we still thought it was beautiful!
More walking ...
We found a church! So we went inside!
It had tons of these paintings all over the walls.
Along the front of the church they had statues of the 12 apostles and Christ, it was really neat.
If you look closely you will see Christs statue in the middle. In a room downstairs, there was a statue of Peter holding the keys.
Some more apostles
Outside there was a cute little courtyard.
This was the front of the building!
Side note: Before we left the building we were standing next to these doors and we heard 2 little girls singing "Let It Go" from Disney's Frozen in Italian! It was the cutest thing! One of the little girls kept correcting the other if she sang the wrong words to the song! :)
As we were walking around we found a way to walk across the bridge!
The view from the bridge
You could climb to the top ... so we did! It was really cool! I just kept imagining archers or guards up here protecting the city ... haha ;)
This road brought you off the bridge through a gate and into part of the city.
We found our first little gelato and pizzeria
It was lunchtime so we bought a calzone!!
We shared one of course! :) It was SO good!!! Yum!
We took a couple steps further and ran into the Verona Arena!! We just walked around it as we finished lunch!
Then we found the famous Romeo & Juliet balcony! ... I guess it was only recently put in about 50 years ago or so but it was still fun to see! :)
We found a lot of little markets!
It was in a really pretty location!
Some more photos of the streets!
We went back for some gelato! Nathan was really happy about this! :)
We enjoyed eating it in the park! It was so hot that day!
This was our view as we ate our gelato
Getting on the train to Venice
There were so many pretty views!
We decided we wanted some American candy as we traveled! (thank you Deseret Book) :)
Here comes Venice!! (This was our first view)
We made it to Venice!!
It is so breath taking here!!
We walked from the station to our B&B! :) Venice is a maze!
Just enough room for people! No cars!
We found the B&B!!
Nathan was trying to figure out how to get a hold of the guy who owns the B&B so we could check in! He had to go to a bigger alleyway for better cell reception.
We finally figured it out! This was the top of the stairs of the house while he checked us in!
After we got all checked in we dropped our stuff and went to find dinner! We found a really good pizza place! :) we ordered by the slice!
This is the name of the place!
We brought the pizza back to our place! Yum!
This was our B&B!! When we got there the guy let us know that someone else cancelled so he just upgraded us to the apartment!! It's a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom and kitchen apartment!! SO cool! We are seriously so blessed!
The second bedroom was the only room with some internet, but you have to sit next to the window in order to get it! haha
Little hallway from the master bedroom to the kitchen/family room.
Our bedroom! :)
It has been so much fun being here in Venice! Everything is so close and so beautiful!!
