This morning ... Or yesterday morning ...? Well, let's just say Monday morning Nathan and I got up early to catch the 7:50am train from Provo to SLC airport, after going to sleep at 3am the night before because if packing and cleaning up the house. We caught that train and were able to make the right connections to our terminal! It was a lot easier then we thought it would be!
Once we go to that airport we ended up waiting an hour and a half longer for our plane to arrive! Once it arrived we all boarded and had a nice 3 hour fight to Chicago. When we got to Chicago we found the the airport was HUGE!! Once our plane found its gate Nathan and I started asking question about where we needed to go to catch our connecting flight to London. The lady at the information desk said that we needed to go catch a bus that would take us to our terminal. Nathan and I hustled over only to find out that we had to wait a half hour before the next bus came, so we enjoyed watching planes land and take off as we waited.
We eventually made it to our gate, so we checked in and realized how starving we were so we asked the stewardess checking us in if there was food nearby, she directed us to, in our opinion, the best hamburger joint!! It was seriously so good! :)
After eating we were able to board the 747!! Nathan was really excited to get on this plane! :) It was so big, I can see why he would be excited, we don't get to fly on this kind of plane often. Anyway so we boarded the British Airways 747 and we were all the way in the back. Unfortunately we did not get a window seat but we both decided that it was for the better because we were able to move around a little easier. When we all got seated a storm decided to roll in, grounding us for about an hour. It was a really cool storm.
Eventually the storm passed and we were able to make it up in the air!! The flight was like any other flight there was some turbulence but overall it was a good flight!
They fed us all dinner, Nathan had a pasta dinner and I had a chicken curry dinner, we both thought they were delicious!! :) After dinner Nathan and I were able to get a good hour to 2 hours of sleep in before we woke up to a Tuesday morning sunrise in the sky!! :)
The crew fed us breakfast (a croissant and jam) and next thing we knew we landed!!
Nathan and I walked up to the UK Border the asked us a lot of questions, gave us a stamp in our passport and we made our first step into London!!! ... Well we got our bag and bought an all day tube and bus pass! We hopped on the underground tube and headed to Hammersmith where our hostel was located. When we got there they let us check our bag but we couldn't check in until after 1pm, it was about 10:30am, so we decided to go explore.
Nathan and I left the hostel and walked across the street where the bus station was and got on the bus that took us to a central area in London where we could walk around and see a lot of sights!
We saw the parliament building, we saw the changing of the guards at the horse guard house, we toured West Minster Abby, we saw the Buckingham palace and so much more!!! Its hard to write it all down.
Anyway after all of that we came back to the hostel, checked in, took showers and went to get some dinner! Nathan got his fish and chips and I tried calamari! Both were very good!!! After dinner we were both so tired that we accidentally fell asleep for an hour and now we are looking up some things for our trip to Paris tomorrow and getting ready for bed!
