Day 3 at The Palace of Versailles

First stop, the train.

This was the first thing we saw in Versailles when we got out of the train station! :) We are not sure what it is but it's beautiful!

Our first look at the palace!

Statue of Louis the XIV

Okay, so when we first walked up to the palace, these guys were everywhere. Then we noticed that they all started picking their stuff up and running, we saw this once before in Paris so we started looking for the cops. Right when we turned we saw a police car chasing them. It was like they were herding cattle or something! Nathan and I couldn't help but watch and laugh! We decided to not buy anything from these men.

The grand gate of Versailles

While we were waiting in line the walls of this building were covered in these silhouettes of all the different famous people that lived in the palace.

Once we got our tickets we made our way to the back of the palace, where the gardens are, because the lines into the palace were ridiculously long!!

Here is part of the gardens.

We walked a long way to get to the other homes.

We made it to the Petit Trianon; here is the first staircase. This was given to Marie Antoinette when she first married.

We snapped a shot through the mirror! :) We don't know why we were told to carry our bags in front but we were, so we obeyed! :)

Here is a fire place in one of the rooms.

And Marie's pool table. Apparently this was one of her favorite rooms?

After the Petit Trianon, we walked through the gardens and found Marie's farm. When we crossed over a bridge we saw all of these wide mouth fish!!

I don't know if you can see it or not but if you look closely in the grass you can see, what we think is a beaver family. The mom and dad in the shadow closest to us (to the right) and the babies in the shadow to the left.

Here is a far away view of the first farm house we saw.

Here is a close up view. They were very cute!

Here is a view from the back.

After the farm we walked over to the Grand Trianon. Here is a panorama of the front.

Here is one of the many entertainment rooms.

This is the outdoor hallway that connected them both.

I thought these chandeliers were really cool and I thought it was very interesting that they covered the chain with ribbon.

Here is one of the rooms, I forget who's? I think it was the room that Louis gave his daughter and her husband, king of Belgium?

Another entertainment room! :)

The back of the Grand Trianon

We found the Grand Canal ... well the back of it anyway! :)

I thought the stairs that lead to it were really cool! I just kept imagining all the many people through history that have been here! :) SO So cool!!

This is the front gate of the Grand Trianon

We made it to the other side of the Grand Canal

This was our view of the palace from the Grand Canal

This was an amazing fountain that could be seen from the palace.

Some of the gardens

Walking up to the Palace

We almost made it

The back of the Palace

We made it in through the gates! :)

It is so beautiful!!

The royal church

The door that lead to the church

One of the many hallways.

This used to be displayed for people while the kings room was under construction, for 25 years I think?, He had it out so people could see what it would look like. His room was at the front of the palace.

This is a painting of Marie Antoinette with her kids outside strolling around the farm.

A mini statue of the one outside the palace.

Grand stairs that led to the rooms and so much more.

Oh man, here we go! :)

A view of the palace from inside.

Some of the doors! :)

This is where Louis would enter for church and until he entered it wouldn't start.

A beautiful ceiling painting!

This is said to be one of Louis the XIV's favorite. It was one of his younger statues.

This was the kings room. It was very dark in here

I loved the chandeliers.

The hall of mirrors.

Its a dark picture but that's us in the mirror's! :)

Marie Antoinette's room!!

This is the hidden door that she escaped through when the revolution broke through the palace doors. To the left of the door is her jewelry box.

Me in the room.

A room where they entertained guests.

Not sure what this room is but it had lots of paintings.

This room just had a lot of paintings of people too.

This was the hall that lead us to the exit.

This is one view of the palace from inside.

This is a picture of Napoleon performing a coronation for one of the Queens.

The last staircase before we left the palace.

Part of the Kings Court. (the right side)

This is the front of the Kings court. Through those doors on the balcony was the kings room (Louis the XIV)
It was ceremonial for him to come out to the balcony and greet his subjects every morning at 10.

Nathan taking a picture of the main gate on the other side.

Sadly this was the end of our stay at Versailles. It was so large and so beautiful! I wish there was more time to see more!!

After Versailles we went back into Paris and saw The Church of the Sacred Heart or Sacre Couer.

This was our dinner before we hiked up! :)

The view of Paris

The inside

A cool little fact, someone is always praying here, 24 hours a day since 1845.

A little section of it from outside.

This was from the side looking to the front of the church.

There were so many people there.

As we walked down from Sacre Couer there were a lot of little shops. We found a chocolate shop. This is all Chocolate!! (Its Notre Dame)

Here is another all made of chocolate! If you look closely you will see a little car to the right all made of chocolate.

We found a pastry shop! :) We thought there would be more of these but for some reasn we just are not finding them haha ... so we bought 2 macrons. One chocolate and one cherry, we liked the cherry one the most! :)

While we were out and about we went to see the Moulin Rouge.

Haha :)

We found a photographer and this was his model.

Some guy was making art(?) with toilet paper. He kept yelling at anyone who would get close.

That's how we ended our night! :) Afterwards, we came back to the hostel, showered and fell right to sleep, we were exhausted! :)
