Third Day in Rome

Waiting for the elevator

In the elevator, we took this pic right when it started abruptly.

Our first look inside the Colosseum.

These were the stairs we climbed up to get to the 2nd floor of the Colosseum.

Some things they dug up when they were excavating, some animal skulls and bones.

This was a statue of some emperor, his head was missing.

They believe that these stones with drawing on them were where the audiences would sit. They say that these are markings from the audience, something like doodles of what they were seeing or of their favorite gladiators.

These statues were everywhere! This statue symbolized virtue.

This was the view from the 2nd floor of the Colosseum.

Nathan taking a panorama.

We decided to take a little break so we found a little shade and sat on some ruins.

After the Colosseum we headed over to see the ruins of Palatine Hill.

This was one of the first buildings we saw. It was the Temple of Romulus, the doors are the original doors.

Another Temple.

We found an overgrown fountain.

This was the building that we found the fountain on.

Okay, so I thought this picture was really neat because we had the chance to walk through some of the tunnels the emperors would use to get around. As I was looking as some stuff and admiring stepping back in time I looked forward and saw Nathan doing the same. It's just so amazing that we can walk through history like this.

These are said to be ruins of the original village in Rome. Tradition holds that this is the home of Romulus, founder of Rome.

Nathan being amazing and capturing another awesome panorama.

We found a Roman bath tub.

Some beautiful gardens.

It really was very beautiful here!

This was some sort f gaming area from what we understand.

These areas were one of our favorites because of all of the history and many mysteries that are still to be discovered.

After a long day of exploring thing from the past we went to find food. As we were walking around we found this guy doing a show for everyone, (he was on a bike and juggling)

We found a place to eat! They had a deal for a couple courses so we tried it.

First we got a fried zucchini thing with cheese. It was really yummy.

Then we got our main courses, I had the pizza (they only had a strange selection and this was the best of all, yes that is an egg on the pizza. It also had olives, mushrooms and ham) Surprisingly it wasn't bad. I wouldn't order it again though haha

And Nathan got spaghetti. :)

After our main course we got dessert, it was chocolate mouse. So good!!

This was our view from the table

After dinner we were walking back to the metro and all of the sudden thousands of bicyclists came out of no where, we have no idea why they were out but they filled the streets and caused crazy traffic jams!

This was the front of the group.

We decided to stop at the Colosseum and take some pictures! :)

This stuff is so hard to walk on.

Waiting for the metro back to the hotel.

Here is a photo from that night! :)
