There and Back Again ...: First Day in Rome

We decided we needed to do some laundry.

While we waited we wrote some postcards! :)

Everything was clean, so we headed back to the room! :)

This was outside of our hotel! When they cleaned, up you would have no idea they were even there! It's crazy!

We took the metro.

There has been scaffolding everywhere. :( ... This was or first look at the Colosseum! :)

We decided to do our own walking tour this day! :)

Nathan really wanted a picture with one of the police men because they looked so cool! This guy was really nice and took a pic with him!! :)

This was our first stop. This building was built about a hundred years ago for the first king. It was really controversial to have it built because it's on top of some of the ruins of the Roman Forums.

When we walked up the stairs we found the tomb of the unknown soldier and the eternal flame.

This was what it looked like inside right inside the front door.

We walked up the balcony of the building and this was the beautiful view of Rome that we found.

If you look down you can see some of the ruins the monument was built upon.

From the other side you had a nice view of some more ruins of the Roman Forums! :)

This was the church outside of the palace.

It was really beautiful!

After seeing the building we walked over to Capitoline Hill. These building are the oldest public museums in the world and the buildings and the square were designed by Michaelangelo.

We thought it was a really nice place! :)

It was really cool walking around and seeing ancient ruins everywhere.

These guys where everywhere!!

Ok so these artists where everywhere but this lady was by far the best we saw! She actually made it art in our opinions. She was also listening to Michael Jackson as she worked. I took a series of photos but for this I only picked a couple to put up! :)

It was really fun to watch her work!

Haha we took a short break at the Colosseum. We sat on a rock in front.

We went to go see the famous Trevi fountain! It was the main water source for Rome from what we understand and its famous for all of it apperences in movies. Haha
